Fracture characteristics and hydrocarbon accumulation models of Paleogene in Yaerxia area

Abstract:In order to understand oil and gas accumulation characteristics of the Qingxi-Laojunmiao complex fault zone in Jiuquan Basin, we carriy out a comprehensive study of fractures development characteristics and hydrocarbon accumulation in the Paleogene system in Yaerxia area. Through analysis of the fractures development and distribution in Yaerxia area, we conclude a clear relationship between faults and hydrocarbon source rocks, tectonic development and hydrocarbon migration. In combination with regional sedimentary characteristics research and the exploration situation of the study area, we clarify the basic regulation of hydrocarbon accumulation in this area and set up a hydrocarbon accumulation pattern of the Paleogene system in Yaerxia area. Based on the understanding of the hydrocarbon accumulation regularity, we optimize the favorable exploration blocks. Through our work, we clarify the important role of faults in hydrocarbon accumulation in Yaerxia area and propose series of methods for fault-stratigraphic reservoir exploration in complex fault zone of Qingxi-Laojunmiao.
